Developed for team training in emergency access, stabilising the patient, and inserting stent grafts, these courses provide a stimulating environment to practice TEVAR and EVAR. The adaptable hemodynamic module allows the “patient” to experience hemodynamic collapse and recovery as the case proceeds.
Previous courses include a one-day complex endovascular aortic course that covered fenestrated and thoracic endovascular repair. A total of ten vascular and trauma consultants contributed to the day’s teaching. Principles of FEVAR and TEVAR planning were taught in the morning with a combination of lectures and practicals. Afternoon sessions were hands-on. TEVAR simulators were provided by Gore, Medtronic and Bolton Medical (a transection simulator). FEVAR workstations were supplied by Vascutek (Anaconda AAA Stent Graft System) and Cook Medical (Zenith Fenestrated AAA Endovascular Graft). The outcome was an intense and highly successful teaching day.
